The Philadelphia 76ers have proved many doubters wrong early with a 17-14 record through 31 games, in large part due to excellent play from guard Tyrese Maxey, All-Star Joel Embiid (when he has been available), and even rookie V.J. Edgecombe has gotten in on the mix.

Another piece that has been useful to the 76ers is nine-time All-Star Paul George, who is averaging 16 points per game on 40 percent shooting while grabbing five rebounds per game.

Given how things have gone this season, George has become the third option with Maxey's leap, and many experts have debated who they believe is the best third option in the league.

To NBA Hall of Famer and former teammate of George, Carmelo Anthony, he thinks the answer is George, and he described why he believed so

"We had a debate: Is PG the best third option out there in the NBA, and if they (Sixers) are playing this way, PG continues to find his way, because I know going from a guy who needs the ball in his hands to having to spot up is a tough transition to make, but I think PG is coming along," Anthony said and also went on to say that Philly will be a tough out in the playoffs.

George signed with the 76ers during the 2024 offseason. Still, he was not very productive in his first season with the team, falling short of his expectations before joining Philly, averaging only 16 points per game in 41 games. However, he hopes to stay healthy enough and help the team back into the postseason.
