Is Joel Embiid playing tonight vs. Knicks? Game status for 76ers star image

Two of the most historic teams in the Eastern Conference will go head-to-head when the New York Knicks host the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night. The Knicks are fresh off of their NBA Cup Championship victory earlier this week, while the Sixers will be looking to see how they measure up against arguably the best team in the conference this season.

It will be the first of three meetings between the two teams on the season, as they’ll also meet again twice in January – once in New York and once in Philadelphia.

Joel Embiid 'questionable' for Friday night vs. Knicks

When it comes to the Sixers, the big question heading into the game centers around the availability of star center Joel Embiid, as it often does. Embiid has played in three consecutive games for the Sixers for the first time this season, but his status for the game against New York remains up in the air.

Embiid is officially listed as “questionable” for the contest due to an illness. His final game status will be determined closer to tip time.

The game against the Knicks is the front end of a back-to-back for the Sixers, as they’re set to host the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday night. So that needs to be taken into consideration, as Embiid hasn’t been playing in both legs of back-to-backs this season, meaning that he’s likely to play in only one of the team’s two games this weekend.
