After a miserable 2024-25 season, the Philadelphia 76ers are looking to return to their winning ways when next season begins. While their main core of star players should enter this season healthy, the team could still make some moves to address their depth.

Athlon Sports’ Nathaniel Holloway has noted Indiana Pacers forward Obi Toppin as a potential candidate for a trade to the 76ers. After struggling with the New York Knicks to begin his career, Toppin has found his niche with the Pacers, averaging 10.4 points and 4.0 rebounds per game, shooting 55 percent from the floor and 38 percent from three-point range in two seasons in Indiana.

Pacers faced with a challenging season ahead

Toppin has played a key role in each of the Pacers’ deep postseason runs in the last two seasons, and with Indiana facing a challenging season ahead thanks to Tyrese Haliburton’s achilles injury, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that a player such as Toppin ends up on the move.

“He is a great scorer and rebounder who proved to be a key piece to a title contending team last season who could be a solid addition to Philadelphia’s bench,” Holloway said.

Toppin could provide relief off the bench for a 76ers team that needs depth badly given the volatile health statuses of the team’s stars. Nevertheless, if they make a move for Toppin or not, the 76ers should be back in the mix for a postseason spot after a wasted season in 2024-25.
