The Philadelphia 76ers enter next season as a question mark around the league. After a porous season in 2024-25, the team is looking to get back to its winning ways this upcoming season. As such, the 76ers have been shopping around some of their depth to acquire assets for the future.
According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the 76ers have been considering offers for both Andre Drummond and Kelly Oubre Jr. in an effort to free up cap flexibility to retain Quentin Grimes, who is a restricted free agent.
The 76ers have spent most of their offseason trying to work out a solution for Grimes, who has seemingly tapped into his full potential in a 76ers uniform.
“If they are able to find a deal for one of those two guys as we get closer to camp, that would open up some more wiggle room for Philadelphia to be able to pay [Quentin] Grimes a little bit more,” Fischer said.
Grimes was a bright spot for the 76ers last season
Grimes became an important piece for the 76ers after ending up with the team in February of last season. He averaged 21.9 points, 4.5 assists and 5.4 rebounds per game while knocking down 37 percent of his three-pointers in 28 appearances (25 starts).
Oubre has spent the last two seasons with the 76ers, averaging 15.3 points per game while shooting 45 percent from the floor and 30 percent from beyond the arc. Drummond spent last season with Philadelphia, in what was his second stint with the team, the first coming in 2021-22. He averaged 7.3 points and 7.8 rebounds per game in 40 games last season (23 starts).
