What was shaping up to be the season from hell for Philadelphia has become a stunningly exciting year, no thanks to its two priciest pieces, former All-Stars Paul George and Joel Embiid.

George has missed the entire 2025-26 season so far recovering from an arthroscopic knee injury. But his health appears to be improving.

According to Underdog NBA, the 6-foot-8 Fresno State product participated in a practice with the 76ers on Sunday.

Per the NBA's most recent injury report, George has seen his status for Monday's matchup against the L.A. Clippers upgraded to questionable.

Seven-time All-Star center Joel Embiid will miss a fourth straight game as he continues to manage a right knee injury. His backup, second-year center Adem Bona, has been ruled out with a sprained right ankle. Starting small forward Kelly Oubre has been diagnosed with an LCL sprain in his left knee and will miss at least the next two weeks.

The George news, however, is the most encouraging recent injury takeaway for the 76ers.

The 35-year-old suffered a massive regression during his debut season with Philadelphia in 2024-25. George missed half his games for the 24-58 76ers last year, averaging a scant 16.2 points on.430/.358/.814 shooting splits, 5.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.8 steals and 0.5 blocks a night.

Still, he remains a useful veteran option as a scorer and passer, even if All-Star point guard Tyrese Maxey and Rookie of the Year contender V.J. Edgecombe have become his team's focal points moving forward. That dynamic duo has completely altered Philadelphia's approach to the game. The club's new up-tempo mindset is seemingly at odds with the pace of the more plodding George and Embiid.

George is on the second season of a massive four-year, $211.6 million deal he inked with Philadelphia in free agency. The contract relative to his production and health is so epic that it may prove prohibitively tough to trade him.
