Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander made history in a 122-101 win against the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night.
Gilgeous-Alexander scored 32 points in 29 minutes, setting a new NBA record for most 30-point games in less than 30 minutes in a season. Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo previously held the record with nine during the 2019-20 season.
SGA went 13/24 from the field and 2/6 from 3-point range against the Clippers. He also posted seven rebounds, six assists and two blocks. His previous game with 30+ points in less than 30 minutes came on Dec. 5 against the Dallas Mavericks.
SGA is second in the league in scoring this season, averaging 32.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 6.4 assists in 26 games. He’s shooting 56% from the field and 42.3% from deep. The 2025 NBA MVP has already played less than 30 minutes in 12 games, all in Thunder victories.
The star guard was one of three OKC players who finished with at least 20 points against the Clippers, including Chet Holmgren (22) and Jalen Williams (20). Ajay Mitchell scored 16 points off the bench, while Isaiah Joe added 14.
Oklahoma City responded well after suffering just its second loss all season last Saturday, a 111-109 defeat to the San Antonio Spurs. The Thunder (25-2) recently tied the 2015-16 Golden State Warriors for most wins to start a season with 24.
Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder return to action Friday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves, a rematch of last season’s Western Conference Finals.
