The Oklahoma City Thunder continued their scorching start to the 2025–26 season on Sunday, rallying from a slow defensive opening to defeat the Memphis Grizzlies 114–100. After surrendering 62 points in the first half, Oklahoma City tightened up defensively and allowed just 38 over the final two quarters, pulling away for a 14-point victory that moved the team to 10–1.

Reigning NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander once again set the tone. The All-Star guard delivered 35 points, seven rebounds, six assists and two steals in another complete performance. The Thunder relied heavily on their starters, who combined for 101 of the team’s 114 points. Chet Holmgren added 21 points, showcasing his versatility on both ends, while Ajay Mitchell continued his strong early-season play with 21 of his own. Center Isaiah Hartenstein anchored the interior, recording 18 points and 13 rebounds.

Oklahoma City’s defensive improvement after halftime proved decisive. The Thunder’s perimeter pressure smothered Memphis standout Ja Morant, who struggled throughout the night. Morant finished with just 11 points on 3-for-18 shooting, while Jaren Jackson Jr. Was the only Grizzlies player to exceed 15 points, ending with a team-high 17.

The win also highlighted the Thunder’s remarkable recent dominance over Memphis. Sunday marked Oklahoma City’s 14th straight victory against the Grizzlies, a streak that includes last season’s first-round playoff sweep.

The schedule, however, offers no time to breathe. After holding Morant in check, the Thunder will now prepare for two of the league’s elite guards on back-to-back nights. Oklahoma City hosts Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday before welcoming Luka Dončić and the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday.
