The Oklahoma City Thunder entered Wednesday night’s matchup against the Sacramento Kings with a 14-1 record and a spotless 6-0 mark at home. That momentum carried over once again, as Oklahoma City handled Sacramento 113-99, defeating former franchise star Russell Westbrook and a Kings squad still searching for consistency.
As has been the case throughout the early portion of the season, the duo of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren powered the Thunder to victory. They combined for 54 points, continuing their run as one of the league’s most efficient one-two punches.
Gilgeous-Alexander led the way with 33 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. Holmgren added 21 points on 10-for-15 shooting, along with seven rebounds, three blocks and a steal.
Luguentz Dort also stayed hot from long range, finishing with 14 points, all while hitting four of his eight attempts from beyond the arc. Dort has now scored 31 points across his last two games, marking his highest-scoring two-game stretch of the season.

With the win, Oklahoma City improved to 15-1, an eye-catching start that naturally draws comparisons to the 2015-16 Golden State Warriors, who set the NBA record with a 73-9 season. While the Thunder have played less than one-fifth of their schedule, their dominance has been undeniable. Last year’s historic +12.9 average point differential has climbed even higher to +14.4 this season.
What may be most alarming for the rest of the league is that Oklahoma City has done all of this without Jalen Williams, their No. 2 scorer from last season, who remains sidelined with a wrist injury.

The Thunder still face a steep climb to match Golden State’s pace.
The Warriors did not suffer their first defeat until Game 25 and didn’t lose again until Game 31. For Oklahoma City to keep pace, they would need to win 14 of their next 15 games, which would put them at 29-2.
Up next, the Thunder draw a favorable matchup against the Utah Jazz on Friday before a rematch with the Portland Trail Blazers, the only team to beat them this season.
