Former NBA veteran and Oklahoma City Thunder guard Sebastian Telfair was released from prison this week, per TMZ Sports.

Telfair was one of 18 former NBA players arrested for fraud charges in October 2021. The players allegedly engaged in a fraud scheme against the league's health department, where they submitted false claims for money.

He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a three-year probation in March 2023, but was ordered to report to prison in August 2025 after violating his parole.

"I've been feeling good- feel rehabilitated. Did what I had to do, took care of myself. Now, let's get back to my babies," Telfair said in an Instagram video on Tuesday.

Telfair, a Brooklyn native, averaged 7.4 points, 1.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 10 NBA seasons. He was drafted No. 13 overall by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2004 Draft. He bounced around the league, playing for the Timberwolves, Clippers, Cavaliers, Suns and Raptors before briefly exiting the NBA in 2013.

He dealt with legal issues throughout his professional career. He pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon in 2008 and was sentenced to probation. Then-commissioner David Stern suspended Telfair for three games due to the incident.

His final NBA stint came in 2014 when he signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Telfair played in 16 games in OKC before being waived after a game against the Utah Jazz.

Telfair had a legendary high school career in New York City. He was named New York Mr. Basketball and a McDonald's All-American before becoming one of the last prep stars to enter the NBA Draft out of high school.
