Shams Charania is going to play in the Celebrity Game at NBA All-Star Weekend.
That's right, the guy who is normally reporting the scoops for ESPN is going to be trying to scoop the ball into the basket in front of a national audience.
It takes some confidence to take that step, for sure.
Charania spoke during NBA Today on Tuesday about his spot in the game.
"It's always been a dream for me," Charania said. "I'm realizing between the trade deadline and the celebrity game, I've got a lot of ramp-up to do. I've got to represent."
And here's how Charania assesses his game:
"I'm a shooter. I can handle the ball. And I can make my floaters."
He capped it off with an NBA comparison: "Shoutout Danny Green."
We'll have to ask Danny Green how he feels about this once he sees Shams out on the court.
The 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend will be held at the Intuit Dome in California, home of the Los Angeles Clippers.
We'll have to see if Charania tries to break any news during the game. He currently has 3.4 million followers on X (formerly Twitter), so any time he puts out NBA information, it's quickly being consumed by lots and lots of basketball fans.
There should certainly be some entertaining content opportunities from Charania on the court, whether he looks more like Danny Green or maybe not quite as much as he'd like.
