What drought is ending with this series starting?
Before this postseason, there hasn't been a Western Conference Finals series since 1996 that didn't have a team playing in it from either California or Texas.
Now, these two states make up almost half the teams in the conference, as they combine for seven teams, but this is still a crazy stat.
So much has had to go right for three decades to keep this alive.

Of course, the Lakers and Warriors have had periods of dominating, so they accounted for many of the years, but even when they had off years other teams stepped up to keep the streak alive.
The Clippers were featured in 2021 in the WCF despite not having a lot of success as a franchise.

The Rockets gave the Warriors a run for their money back when Harden was in his prime.
We can't forget the Spurs' two-decade-long domination under Gregg Popovich, making 10 WCF appearances since 1996.
Most recently, Luka Doncic and the Mavericks made a couple of appearances, as well as Dirk's Mavs who won a championship a little over a decade ago.

The Kings didn't do much to keep the streak alive, only making a single WCF in the last 30 years which was against the Lakers anyway.
This streak could very well start up again next year, especially with young teams from Texas getting better and likely emerging as contenders in the West over the next few years.
