Unfortunately for the many NBA fans looking forward to All-Star Weekend, a few notable names won't be available to participate in this year's festivities.
Stephen Curry (leg), Kevin Durant (knee) and Zion Williamson (hamstring) have been ruled out of the 2023 All-Star Game. Their injuries opened the door for a few candidates who initially missed the cut and pushed some reserves into the starting pool.

2023 All-Star injury replacements
The NBA announced on Feb. 10 that Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards, Kings guard De'Aaron Fox and Raptors forward Pascal Siakam will be the injury replacements for Curry, Durant and Williamson.
Additionally, 76ers center Joel Embiid, Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen and Grizzlies guard Ja Morant will now be starters instead of reserves.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver chooses injury replacements for the All-Star Game.
A combination of fan, player and media voting determines the starters for the All-Star Game, and NBA head coaches select the reserves.

All-Star captains LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo will draft their teams from the eligible pool of players (starters in first round, reserves in second round).
They are not required to draft based on conference affiliation or position.
