The 2024 NBA All-Star Game is quickly approaching.

This year's proceedings will take place in Indianapolis, which last held the event in 1985. The process has changed over the years, but All-Star rosters are still largely dependent on the fan voting process.

After voting opened on Dec. 19, the NBA revealed the first returns among fan votes on Jan. 4. Atop the lists in each conference were a few usual suspects in Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid and LeBron James.

While each of the above former MVPs unsurprisingly led the way, several younger stars have surged up the list. As we move one week closer to All-Star festivities, take stock of the third voting returns from each position group in each conference.

How does the NBA All-Star voting process work?

Between Dec. 19 and Jan. 20, fans can vote on the starters for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game.

Once again, the fan vote accounts for 50 percent of the vote to determine the All-Star Game starters. Current players and a media panel will split the other 50 percent. The All-Star ballot includes two guards and three frontcourt players from each conference. Fans can submit one ballot each day.

The league is returning to an Eastern Conference vs. Western Conference format, so there will be no All-Star Draft this year. The leading vote-getter in each conference will still be named a captain.

The reserves for the All-Star Game will be chosen by the NBA's head coaches. Commissioner Adam Silver will choose any necessary injury replacements.
