Isaiah Thomas isn’t ready to call it a career.

The former Boston Celtics All-Star took to social media on Friday night to make it clear that he would like to keep playing, even if it means he’s got to go overseas to do it.

“Thinking about slidin’ to the Euro league,” Thomas wrote on the social media platform X. “I just want to HOOP.”

The 36-year-old guard has been around the NBA since 2011. Coming out of Washington in 2011, Thomas was a second-round pick for the Sacramento Kings. He spent the first three years of his career playing for the Kings. In 2014, Thomas joined the Phoenix Suns for 46 games. He was traded to the Boston Celtics in February 2015.

Although his time in Boston would last just two full seasons, Thomas had star flashes. During the 2016-2017 season, he averaged a career-high 28.9 points per game, along with 5.9 assists and 2.7 rebounds, while shooting 46 percent from the field and 37 percent from three.

In 2016 and 2017, Thomas made the NBA All-Star Game. It seemed as though Thomas was finally coming into his own and putting together a long stretch of star-studded performances, but an injury and a change of scenery took everything off track.

Since his playing days in Boston, Thomas has played for eight different NBA teams and has had multiple runs with G League organizations as well.

Overall, Thomas has 556 career games, starting in 362 of them. He is a 43-percent shooter from the field, who averages 17.5 points, 4.8 assists, and 2.4 rebounds per game.

While Thomas has held a strong desire to continue playing in the NBA, a move to a European club might be in the cards at this point.

Thomas’s last run at the NBA level came with the Phoenix Suns during the 2023-2024 NBA season. He appeared in six games, seeing the court for just 3.2 minutes per game. When he played for the Utah Jazz’s G League affiliate last year, he produced 29.1 points per game, while shooting 44 percent from the field and 41 percent from three.
