The New York Knicks will be shorthanded against the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night.

In addition to being without Landry Shamet and Mitchell Robinson, the Knicks will have to compete without Josh Hart.

Why Josh Hart isn’t playing for the Knicks tonight vs. The Pelicans with injury news.

Hart is listed as out on the Knicks’ injury report due to a right ankle sprain. The Athletic’s James L. Edwards III broke down Hart’s lower-body setback on Saturday.

“New York Knicks do-it-all guard Josh Hart will miss at least the next three games with a right sprained ankle,” Edwards reported.

“Hart suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of New York’s Christmas Day victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.”

“Hart, per league sources, is still undergoing further tests and will be reevaluated when the Knicks return from a three-game road trip that begins against the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday and ends with the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday.”

There’s no question it’ll be difficult for the Knicks to be the best version of themselves without Hart in the lineup.

The Villanova product is among the best rebounding guards in the league, always plays under control, is an underrated downhill attacker, and is a much-improved perimeter shooting threat.

Hart is averaging 12.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game with New York this season, shooting 49.8% from the field and 38.9% from beyond the arc.

Hopefully, Hart isn’t sidelined for an extended period.
