The New York Knicks announced Monday morning that Miles “Deuce” McBride will be available tonight against the Miami Heat.

McBride was previously listed as questionable due to undisclosed personal reasons, but he has now been upgraded ahead of the team’s rematch from Friday night.

Given the absences of starting point guard Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby, the Knicks were already running thin on their depth chart. McBride has missed two games this season for personal reasons and was in jeopardy of missing a third.

McBride has appeared in 10 games this season, starting in two of them. He’s averaging 8.5 points, 2.7 assists, and 2.9 rebounds while shooting 38% from three. After serving as the team’s backup point guard, he now returns to the starting lineup for the second straight game.

The 25-year-old opened the season on a high note but has since struggled to find consistent footing amid an experimental stretch of games under head coach Mike Brown. He’s recorded three double-figure scoring nights but has yet to rediscover his shooting touch, averaging 39.5% from the field.

McBride’s presence should provide the Knicks with some much-needed stability as they head into a highly anticipated contest against the Heat. In Friday’s meeting, he logged nine points, four rebounds, and four assists across 30 minutes, but struggled from long range, going just 1–for-6 from three.

Tonight, McBride is expected to take on the same assignment defensively, matching up with Davion Mitchell, who continues to fill in for the injured Tyler Herro. The Knicks will hope McBride’s defensive grit shines through once again in a game New York needs to win.

The Knicks have won six of their last seven contests and will look to keep their momentum rolling as they begin their five-game road trip in Miami.
