The New York Knicks are positioned for a deep playoff run following last season's Eastern Conference finals loss to the Indiana Pacers.
The club used its limited financial flexibility to sign cost-effective players in Guerschon Yabusele and Jordan Clarkson this summer, and they still have room for one more veteran-minimum signing. While it appears unlikely, the Knicks could also look to the trade market to strengthen their second unit.
With superstar point guard Jalen Brunson leading the way in a wide-open Eastern Conference, New York has the roster to contend, but potential upgrades remain on the table.
Miles McBride joins Kings in mock trade
Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report labeled Miles McBride as New York's best trade asset and compiled a mock deal that would send him out West.
Here's Buckley's proposed trade:
Knicks receive: Keon Ellis
Kings receive: Miles McBride, 2026 first-round pick (top-eight protected via WAS)

Ellis would represent an upgrade from McBride defensively and has been a more efficient outside shooter during his three-year career. While a first-round pick and McBride is a lot to give up for Ellis, there's a solid chance that the Washington Wizards’ pick will be protected.
Although Ellis is on an expiring contract, the Knicks’ win-now mindset could make the 25-year-old a solid fit. McBride is a better playmaker than Ellis, though that is less valuable in lineups that feature Brunson.
It appears more likely the Knicks will add one more veteran-minimum player in free agency and stand pat the rest of the season. That said, Ellis is an intriguing fit, especially given his previous experience under new Knicks head coach Mike Brown.
