The New York Knicks got down to business during the second day of the 2025 free agency period.
The organization elected to sign a 6-foot-8 Olympic star who saved his NBA career with the Philadelphia 76ers last season.
"Free agent center Guerschon Yabusele has agreed to a two-year, $12 million contract with the New York Knicks, plus a player option,” ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Tuesday. “The Knicks negotiated the new deal with agents Olivier Mazet and Richie Felder for the big man on Tuesday.”
After spending one year with Chorale Roanne (France), one with Rouen Metropole (France), and one with the Shanghai Sharks (China), Yabusele signed with the Boston Celtics in 2017, the franchise that drafted him No. 16 overall the year before.
Unfortunately, the Dreux Native’s stint with the Celtics didn’t last long, as the franchise waived him after two uneventful seasons (he averaged less than three points per game in 74 contests).
However, following Yabusele’s remarkable performance with France in the 2024 Olympics (highlighted by his emphatic slam over LeBron James in the Gold Medal game), the 76ers signed the 6-foot-8 forward before the start of the 2024-25 season, enabling him to return to the league.

Yabusele enjoyed a career with Philadelphia, averaging 11.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per game while shooting 50.1% from the field and 38.0% from three-point land.
There’s no doubt the valuable role player will help provide versatility, toughness, and durability in the Knicks’ frontcourt in 2025-26.
