The New York Knicks could be reuniting with a familiar face at the trade deadline this season in the form of Minnesota Timberwolves guard Donte DiVincenzo.
Per Kris Pursiainen of Clutch Points, the Knicks have been showing interest in the sharpshooting guard. DiVincenzo played for the Knicks during the 2023-24 season, and had his best season as a pro, averaging 15.5 points per game while shooting 40 percent from behind the three-point line.
“League sources tell ClutchPoints that the Knicks have had exploratory discussions with two Western Conference teams about potential trades, with New Orleans Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado and Minnesota Timberwolves guard Donte DiVincenzo at the center of various proposals,” Pursiainen said.
Should he return, he would provide the Knicks with solid spacing off the bench, and chemistry with the team’s star talent, as he was college teammates with Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Mikal Bridges at Villanova. This season, he is averaging 13.2 points per game, and is shooting 38 percent from beyond the arc.
The Knicks will continue to monitor the situation as they look to load up for a deep playoff run later this season.
