Knicks predicted to hire Dan Hurley as Tom Thibodeau's replacement as head coach image

The New York Knicks need a new head coach.

Much of NBA social media was quick to connect Dan Hurley to the job.

It's not a perfect idea, at first glance. Hurley could've been the Lakers head coach but turned that down to remain in charge at UConn, where he has a pair of national championships.

But for some, Hurley is the perfect fit. CBS radio guy Adam Schein sure thinks so:

Hurley is a New Jersey kid. He played at Seton Hall, and he's never gone far.

His coaching stops have taken him to Wagner, Rhode Island and now Connecticut.

Hurley's one knock is having never coached in the league, but that wouldn't stop teams from hiring him if they knew he was available.

The energetic, intense Hurley has a 316-174 record as a college coach with the 2023 and 2024 national titles.

The Knicks have a team heavily in contention heading into next season, so they need to hire someone they believe can lead them to a championship.

Hurley is a championship coach.

If Hurley is open to the idea, the Knicks very well may hire him.
