Will Wade and the NC State basketball program have a few interesting ways to look at the remainder of their season. Currently the No. 23-ranked team in America, with some tough games ahead, NC State has a chance to be one of the better teams in the ACC.

It'll take a lot on both sides of the basketball for them to be the team they're looking to be, and a lot of that will fall on Matt Able, a 6-foot-6 shooting guard for the Wolfpack.

Able is viewed as a high first-round pick and could be an option for the New York Knicks, with Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report currently having them with the No. 18 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. He had the Knicks selecting Able, comparing him to Landry Shamet.

“Matt Able's shooting is the draw, but he's also operating with a notable sense of poise and intelligence. He's taking smart escape dribbles into pull-ups, using fakes to open driving lanes and making smart passing reads.

“Able has been more of a perimeter scoring specialist early, but the finishes he's delivered show obvious touch that helps diminish concerns over his lack of strength and explosion,” he wrote

Some might see a comparison to a Shamet and not have it jump off the screen, but it's also important to recognize that Shamet has been in this league for quite some time now, and there's a reason he finds himself on a roster every season.

Having another player like him, if that comparison comes true, would be a nice thing for New York.
