Even without one of their top players, the New York Knicks (13-6) have been able to put together a four-game win streak after beating the Toronto Raptors (14-7) on Sunday.
The team is still looking forward to OG Anunoby's return. The two-way forward suffered a strained left hamstring during the team's 140-132 win over the Miami Heat on Nov. 14.
After initially planning to re-evaluate Anunoby in two weeks, the Knicks provided an updated timeline. He has missed six straight games, but the latest news is encouraging.
OG Anunoby has begun controlled contact 3-on-3 scrimmaging
On Sunday, Knicks insider Kristian Winfield posted to X with an update on Knicks forward OG Anunoby.
"Mike Brown says there's no update on when OG Anunoby can return to the court and says he's not yet cleared for contact. He's doing controlled court work with 3 on 3 scrimmaging: 'He's doing some on-court work and we're continuing to monitor him. We're not gonna rush him.'"
Brown's patience with Anunoby's setback may stem from his ongoing history of hamstring issues. He dealt with a similar injury during the 2024 NBA Playoffs, which also forced him to miss time.
It's unclear if the 28-year-old will be ready for New York's back-to-back on Dec. 2 and 3 against the Boston Celtics and Charlotte Hornets.
In 12 games this season, Anunoby is averaging 15.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.9 steals while shooting 47.6 percent from the field.
The Knicks have been relying on Josh Hart and Miles McBride heavily since Anunoby has been sidelined, and New York has a 5-2 record without him in the lineup.
