There are few players with better career accolades than former Miami Heat legend Dwayne Wade, but he can still be impressed from time to time.
Wade, now an analyst for Amazon Prime Video, was blown away by OG Anunoby's leaping ability during the New York Knicks' NBA Cup semifinals win against the Orlando Magic on Saturday.
"How did he get up so high?" Wade said as Anunoby soared for a putback layup.
Anunoby met Magic center Wendell Carter Jr. At the rim, missing his first shot attempt. He quickly bounced back up towards the rim for an easy two points. Anunoby's 24 points were the third most on the Knicks, behind Jalen Brunson (40) and Karl Anthony Towns (29).
Anunoby is confident in his abilities
"I jumped," Anunoby said when asked how he got up so high for the rebound and score. "I think I'm pretty athletic, and I jump kinda high."
Anunoby added that he was unaware that Wade was impressed with his leaping skills.
He maintains a low-key personality, at least in interviews before and after games, so it's not surprising to see Anunoby keep his response to Wade nice and short. His size and athleticism occasionally help him win the Defensive Player of the Game award in the Knicks' locker room, with the winner gifted a hard hat and Timberland boots.
