New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson has been outstanding to start the season, and it’s catching the attention of head coach Mike Brown already.
On the season, Brunson is averaging 28.6 points and 6.3 assists per game, helping lead the Knicks to an 11-6 record through their first 17 games. In his last five games, Brunson is averaging 30.3 points per game on over 50 percent shooting from the floor.
In light of his recent play, head coach Mike Brown told Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News that he believes Brunson should be in the MVP conversation.
“Obviously he’s an All-Star, he’s a guy that should definitely be in the conversation for Player of the Year,” Brown said. “It’s no surprise. If you’re around the guy, and you see his work ethic, and you know his intensity and all that other stuff, it’s definitely not a surprise.”
Brunson has quickly risen up the ranks as one of the league’s finest guards — and overall players — MVP will be a tall order, but Brunson certainly can be in the conversation.
Brunson has been arguably the biggest reason for the Knicks’ rise to contention in recent years. If Brunson and the Knicks continue to play well, they’ll have a real chance to snap a 52-year title drought in the 2025-26 season.
