New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson is a rebounding machine, particularly on the offensive glass.
He had a season-high 16 rebounds in the Knicks' loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night. But Robinson comes with injury concerns, and the Knicks want to ensure he's healthy come playoff time.
To help manage Robinson's playing load, The Athletic's James L. Edwards III listed Washington Wizards center Marvin Bagley III as a possible trade candidate for the Knicks.
"Bagley is not a good defender (he can occasionally block shots); however, his offensive skills and athleticism make him intriguing when Robinson can’t play," Edwards III wrote. "You know what you’re going to get with Bagley, and while you may want more at times, it’s good to know what you can expect night in and night out from your third center."
Bagley is a former Duke star
After one dominant season at Duke University during the 2017-2018 college basketball season, the Sacramento Kings selected Bagley with the second overall pick in the summer of 2018.
Some notable players drafted after Bagley: Luka Doncic, Trae Young, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
His career has certainly not skyrocketed to MVP and All-Star status, unlike the three players listed. However, the Knicks could find Bagley useful if Robinson or Karl-Anthony Towns gets hurt.
Bagley owns career averages of 11.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 0.6 blocks per game across 311 contests.
