With the NBA trade deadline on the horizon, teams around the league will be looking to make moves to bolster their roster. The New York Knicks are among those teams weighing their options.

According to James Edward III of The Athletic, the Knicks are interested in acquiring New Orleans Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado.

"New York, per league sources, has shown interest in the feisty guard. Alvarado really applies pressure on ballhandlers night in and night out. He's one of those infectious players, similar to Hart, whose plays radiate throughout the rest of the group," Edwards wrote.

Alvarado would serve as another quality addition to the roster. Through 35 games this season, he is averaging nine points and 3.3 assists in 35 games off the bench for the Pelicans. Beyond his numbers, Alvaado's defensive intensity and energy could spark the Knicks' second unit.

Despite his production and impact, the Pelicans have struggled this season, posting an 8-31 record. New Orleans could move multiple pieces ahead of the deadline, possibly moving off several other assets as the Pelicans continue to elevate its future.

The current bench rotation consists of Miles McBride, who has at times provided an offensive spark for the Knicks but has missed time this season due to nagging injuries.

The Knicks, meanwhile, have hit a rough patch, going 1-4 in their recent stretch of games, though they did pick up a much-needed win over the Los Angeles Clippers. Adding a player like Alvarado could help stabilize the bench and inject much-needed energy as they look to make a push in the latter half of the 2025-26 NBA season.
