In the midst of a four-game losing streak, the New York Knicks have run into their most struggling times of the 2025-26 season.
New York failed to score over 100 points just twice this season, and both of them have happened to come during the four-game skid. A sense of panic has struck.
Not just this, but All-Star center Karl-Anthony Towns has run into one of the toughest seasons of his 11-year career. Let's take a look.
Karl-Anthony Towns struggles to stay efficient in 2025-26
Evidence has shown that first-year Knicks coach Mike Brown has implemented a new play style that has contributed to Karl-Anthony Towns' struggles this season.
The Athletic's James L. Edwards III broke down Towns' problem, which is inherent in someone who has to shift between the power forward and center positions and must understand what is happening from every player on the floor.
Towns confirmed this by saying that "We're going to figure out" his new role of having the "biggest sacrifice."
The adjustments are still a work in progress.
So far this season, Towns has averaged less than 15 shots per game. This is something he's only done twice over the veteran's last eight seasons.
It's worth mentioning that he's also shooting a career-low 47.3 field goal percentage.
Coming up on the halfway mark of the regular season, Karl-Anthony Towns is still trying to get through the growing pains of a new head coach. It will be interesting to see if he can get over the slump down the stretch.
