The New York Knicks are heading into another season with a new leader at the helm. After firing Tom Thibodeau earlier this offseason, the team hired Mike Brown to help them overcome their playoff hump.
With the NBA Finals in mind, New York will have to put together another healthy season with consistent play.
However, the Knicks have revealed an update on Josh Hart that is not so healthy. The veteran forward will be playing the upcoming season with a setback.
Josh Hart plans to play 2025-26 season with a splint on his injured hand
With less than a month before the New York Knicks take on the Cleveland Cavaliers, it has been revealed that forward Josh Hart's surgery he had on his right ring finger isn't healing as expected. He will play through the setback, but will be playing with a splint on his shooting hand, Paulius Kundzelevicius of the Hudson Reporter revealed.
Although Hart mentioned that he doesn't like playing with equipment on his hands, he's willing to make the sacrifice to be with his team this season.
"I just try to go out there and play how I play and if I can’t play how I play and be aggressive and kind of have that toughness mentality that I normally play with, then I’ve got to figure out a different path," Hart said. "But right now the full expectation is just to go out there and hoop this season and help this team be successful."
Hart, 30, was the man who did the dirty work for the Knicks in their run to the Eastern Conference Finals last season. In 77 games, he nearly averaged a double-double with 13.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.4 steals while shooting 52.5% from the field.
After sustaining the finger injury during the postseason, Hart's numbers slightly declined. In 18 games, he averaged 11.6 points, 8.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.1 steals while having a 47.2% shooting percentage.
It will be interesting to see how the injury affects him while playing under a new coach.
