Earlier this week, it was revealed that New York Knicks star guard Jalen Brunson earned 27 votes in the New York City Mayoral Election. Despite the love from New Yorkers, Brunson isn’t considering ever running for the city’s top office.

Brunson was asked about the votes he received by members of the media, to which he humorously explained that he wouldn’t consider running for the office anytime soon, and is content with his current day job.

“We have a great fanbase - it's funny, it's cool to see, but I'm going to stay in my lane,” Brunson said.

His teammate Josh Hart also added to the fun, claiming that Brunson would not be a good mayor, but that he should run when he retires.

“Probably not,” Hart said when asked if Brunson would be a good mayor. “But it would be funny to see.”

Brunson’s normal job as an NBA player has gone pretty well since arriving in New York in 2022. He’s made the All-Star and been named All-NBA in each of the last two seasons, and is currently averaging 28.0 points, and 6.4 assists per game for a Knicks team that is currently second in the Eastern Conference at 16-7.
