At this point, it's almost easier to note which teams the New York Knicks haven't been rejected by in their inquiries to interview current head coaches.
That's exactly what SNY's Ian Begley did. He wrote this on X on Wednesday night:
"Knicks have reached out to several teams to request permission to speak with their head coaches. For those keeping score at home: New York, as of late tonight, has not reached out yet to Golden State for permission to speak to Steve Kerr, per league sources."
It's not obvious how tongue-in-cheek this might be.
There hasn't been any prior suggestion that the Knicks would be reaching out to Kerr, who seems pretty content to at the very least spend the rest of Stephen Curry's Golden State career with him.
The Knicks certainly don't seem like they'd mind a splash to replace Tom Thibodeau, and Kerr would certainly qualify.
It just doesn't seem like it'd make much sense for Kerr to take such a leap, anyway, at least right now.
If the Knicks want another team to reject them, that's probably exactly what the Warriors would do if New York asked to talk to Kerr.
The Knicks may want to turn their attentions to other avenues. Even some assistant coaches were once head coaches.
It doesn't seem like pursuing the head coaches of other NBA teams is going to work out very well at all.
