The New York Knicks made an interesting roster move on Wednesday afternoon.

To open up a two-way roster spot for an eager backcourt or frontcourt contributor, the franchise cut ties with Jalen Brunson’s 6-foot-8 teammate after less than two seasons.

"New York Knicks waive Tosan Evbuomwan," the Knicks' PR X/Twitter account stated.

After spending time with the Motor City Cruise, Memphis Grizzlies, Detroit Pistons, San Diego Clippers, and Brooklyn/Long Island Nets, Evbuomwan joined the Knicks on a two-way deal before the start of the 2025-26 season.

While the Princeton product has appeared in five games with the Knicks this season, he hasn’t made a significant impact with the organization. Evbuomwan has only logged eight minutes and recorded two rebounds in the big leagues in Year 3, making New York’s decision to waive him unsurprising.

Why retain a player that isn’t a regular rotational player when he isn’t playing in the G-League? To Evbuomwan’s credit, though, he did make the most of his time with the Knicks' G League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks.

The Newcastle, England, native isn’t great at one particular skill, but he does several things well on both ends, enabling him to succeed in the minor leagues. Evbuomwan averaged 17.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and one block per game with Westchester in six outings.

Although things didn’t work out for Evbuomwan in New York, he’s a good enough player to earn a roster spot elsewhere.
