According to SNY's Ian Begley, the New York Knicks waived forward Tosan Evbuomwan on Wednesday.
"Tosan Evbuomwan will be waived by the New York Knicks today, per sources. Evbuomwan has averaged 7.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 50 career NBA games. The 24 year-old Princeton graduate should garner interest from other NBA teams," Begley wrote on X.
Evbuomwan's release opens a two-way spot on the Knicks' roster. He averaged just 1.6 minutes per game with New York after earning a role on the team as a bench option out of the preseason.
How will the Knicks fill the new two-way slot?
Evbuomwan could land a new deal with another team in the NBA this season, most likely in the same role he had with the Knicks. However, he averaged 17.8 points per game in six contests with the Westchester Knicks in the G League, so he has some scoring potential.
The NBA's two-way contracts became guaranteed today, so Evbuomwan's release is not a huge surprise. He is a former Ivy League Player of the Year at Princeton University.
The Knicks could use their open two-way spot on one of their players from Westchester, like guard Pink Date, who is averaging 18 points while shooting 42.7% from three in eight games this year.
