Knicks could cut ties with $220 million superstar, acquire Anthony Davis from Mavericks image

Nico Harrison is no longer part of the Dallas Mavericks organization.

After trading away Luka Dončić and acquiring Anthony Davis, there are rumors that Davis may be available for trade moving forward.

After being traded to the Mavericks with about half the season left last year, he has played in just 14 total games for them since the blockbuster move that shocked the world.

If the Mavericks organization decides to search for trades for Davis, Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus believes he may be sent to the Big Apple.

“The Knicks have shown they're not a conservative team that celebrates past success. The firing of head coach Tom Thibodeau after the franchise's first Eastern Conference Finals appearance this century didn't save his job,” Pincus said Wednesday.

“If they surround (Jalen) Brunson with Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, Josh Hart, Mitchell Robinson and Davis, the defense could be a problem for the rest of the NBA.”

Right now, what the Mavericks lack is outside shooting from their frontcourt.

Davis can obviously extend to the midrange, but nobody does it better than Karl-Anthony Towns.

When fully healthy, Davis is a more complete player than Towns, which is a risk the New York Knicks would have to take.

Their championship window is unknown, but getting a healthy Davis increases their odds of winning massively.

New York has plenty of outside shooting between Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, and OG Anunoby, so Towns' shooting isn’t looking to be replicated.

It even offers dynamic lineups of Mitchell Robinson playing the five, giving Davis his wish to move back to the power forward.

It may be a long shot, but with Harrison no longer in the front office, this trade is still in play.
