New York Knicks head coach Mike Brown had strong words about the officiating in the Knicks’ loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.
After the Knicks fell 116-107 at home on Friday night, Brown questioned many of the calls the officials missed.
“The officials, they have a tough job,” Brown said. “But I don’t know if I’ll ever understand what’s a foul, what’s not a foul.”
Brown wasn’t pleased with how Knicks forward OG Anunoby was officiated. He said defenders were initiating contact on Anunoby’s drives but weren’t being called for fouls.
“OG’s a big, strong guy,” Brown said. “When he drives… he’s trying to attack the rim. He’s getting rerouted on his drives, but he can’t seem to get a call. I thought his aggression was there, he just couldn’t get to the free throw line.”
Anunoby had a rough night, scoring two points on 1/9 shooting in 32 minutes. Brown was pleased with Anunoby’s mindset but said he couldn’t get into rhythm offensively due to the missed calls.
“OG had a couple of great looks from the 3-point line,” Brown said. “I thought he was aggressive on his drives. He didn’t get any calls.”
New York had a forgettable shooting performance, going 39/88 (44%) from the field and 8/32 (25%) from three. The Knicks also committed 18 turnovers. Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns each had 22 points, while Mikal Bridges scored 21 on 9/16 shooting.
Tyrese Maxey led the way for the Sixers, scoring 30 points and adding 9 assists in his return to the lineup.
