Karl-Anthony Towns reflects on Knicks-Timberwolves trade a year later image

The New York Knicks bested the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night, 137-114 in a dominating victory.

Both teams have some deep ties to one another, after the 2024 trade that sent Karl-Anthony Towns to the Knicks and Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo.

After more than a year removed from the trade, Towns still thinks warmly of his time in Minnesota and with the team that drafted him first overall in 2015.

KAT on Knicks-Wolves trade talk

Towns was asked after the Knicks' victory about how he feels about the trade, almost 14 months removed from the blockbuster deal.

"I'm still stunned. It's weird. You feel more like a Knick now after what we went through last year to get to the heights we went to. But it's weird when you see that Timberwolves jersey, especially them fire black one's y'all got," Towns said via The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski.

"Not being able to see Towns on the back, it's a weird feeling. I love those guys, I love that locker room to death. I'm willing to do anything for them, even if it wasn't about basketball."

Obviously, there's still some sentimentality for Towns, who spent the first nine years of his NBA career with the Timberwolves.

The trade has worked out well for both teams so far, with New York and Minnesota reaching their respective Conference Finals in 2024-25.

As the years roll on, it will be fun to watch and see who gets the better end of the deal and if either team can get the last laugh with an NBA championship.
