As the best player on the New York Knicks, Jalen Brunson has garnered a lot of attention over the past few years. It is warranted praise because Brunson has been a phenomenal talent for the Knicks. In December 2025, Sharpe averaged 30.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game.
It was one of the most impressive runs of the season for Brunson, which led to him winning the Player of the Month award for the Eastern Conference. On the other hand, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder won the award for the Western Conference.
Jaylen Brown is unhappy about losing the award
Brunson was not the only valid candidate to win the Player of the Month award because Jaylen Brown was also superb. For the Boston Celtics, Brown averaged 31.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.4 assists per game, and 1.2 steals per game.
It was a phenomenal month for Brown and the Celtics, as they had a 9-3 tally in December. Unfortunately for Brown, he was overlooked in favor of Brunson, who arguably had the better month, especially with the NBA Cup victory against the San Antonio Spurs.

Brown is not a fan of the award going to Brunson because he felt he deserved the award. It is not difficult to go against Brown, as he is completely valid about his opinion of his play. Unfortunately, the NBA did not think the same, as they felt Brunson was the right choice.
"I'm not gonna say too much, but I'm gonna be honest. No disrespect, no diss to Shai or Brunson. But neither one of them had a better month than I had. But, it's all good, those are good players," Brown said on his Twitch livestream about the Player of the Month award.
The league is filled to the brim with top players, and Brown is among one of them. He is not a stranger to big-time achievements, as seen with his multiple All-Star nods and his Finals MVP from the 2024 NBA Finals.
Brown has worked hard to become the Celtics' top guy this season in Jayson Tatum's absence. Moving forward, he would love to keep playing at this level, as he believes he can keep leading the Celtics to a top seed, and he could get rewarded with an individual award along the way.
