The Minnesota Timberwolves are riding high off a 42-point win to get back in their playoff series with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

And now they enter Game 4 with a surprising advantage: Anthony Edwards is the best Game 4 player in NBA history.

Is that a bit arbitrary? Yes. But it's also what the numbers tell us.

Edwards is the NBA's all-time leading scorer in playoff Game 4s at 34.9 points per game.

He also averages 6.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 1.3 steals, 1.4 blocks and shoots better than 50 percent from the floor and 3-point range in Game 4s, according to StatMuse.

Those stats come over seven games, so it's not too small a sample size.

The team results of those seven games:

  • April 23, 2022: Timberwolves 119, Grizzlies 118 (Edwards 24 points)
  • April 23, 2023: Timberwolves 114, Nuggets 108 (Edwards 34 points)
  • April 28, 2024: Timberwolves 122, Suns 116 (Edwards 40 points)
  • May 12, 2024: Nuggets 115, Timberwolves 107 (Edwards 44 points)
  • May 28, 2024: Timberwolves 105, Mavericks 100 (Edwards 29 points)
  • April 27, 2025: Timberwolves 116, Lakers 113 (Edwards 43 points)
  • May 12, 2025: Timberwolves 117, Warriors 110 (Edwards 30 points)

That's a 6-1 Timberwolves record in Game 4s with Edwards.

Given that this Game 4 is in Minnesota, too, the Timberwolves really do have a strong chance to win and tie the Western Conference Finals up at 2-2.

The Thunder's defense is strong and will certainly be keying on Edwards, but sometimes he'll pull up over three defenders and make shots anyway.

Don't be against Ant on Monday night, not in a Game 4.
