Anthony Edwards has been off the court for the Minnesota Timberwolves

On Friday, it was revealed that Edwards was dealing with a toe infection, which had his status up in the air for the Wolves’ back-to-back set that kicked off their weekend.

By Saturday, Edwards was back on the court. The veteran star helped the Timberwolves go toe-to-toe with a tough San Antonio Spurs team. The high-scoring battle ended with Edwards’ squad on the wrong side of the scoreboard. They came up short with a 126-123 loss.

However, Edwards’ performance could not go unnoticed and without praise.

NBA Fans Praise Ant Edwards

Edwards checked in for 40 minutes in his first set of action in quite some time.

The veteran star went 19-33 from the field, drilling nine of his 16 three-pointers. He also went 8-10 from the charity stripe. Edwards racked up 55 points on the night

@danhurleyuconn: Don’t want to hear no “sga” over him

@thehqenba: Him and Wemby the future of the NBA

@HodiiBarnes: Dude is a straight baller wolves are a very bad matchup for any team

All eyes were on Edwards and the Spurs’ big man, Victor Webanyama. The two players are viewed as some of the most prominent “future” faces of the league, who are currently dominating.

Wembanyama had a special performance, producing 39 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and two blocks. He gave the Timberwolves a tough time, spoiling Edwards’ big night.

@DanielsonW: Ethical

@AdamsSports2: Wemby is generation ofc but Ant is also generational

@TheDisruptor_1: A legendary performance stolen the win by a bs referee. So amazed and sad.

With that loss, the Timberwolves drop two in a row. Although they managed to win their first game without Edwards against the Milwaukee Bucks on January 13, picking up a 139-106 victory, the Timberwolves came up short on Friday night, losing 110-105 against the Houston Rockets.

The Timberwolves are now 27-16 on the year. They place fourth in the Western Conference. Minnesota will be in Salt Lake City to face the Utah Jazz next Tuesday. Edwards’ status for that game will depend on how his toe reacts to playing a long shift on Saturday.
