Did Giannis Antetokounmpo get traded? What to know about Bucks star's future in Milwaukee image

The Milwaukee Bucks may be in for a sharp shift to their future.

On Wednesday, news broke that Giannis Antetokounmpo is considering his future in relation to asking for a trade out of town.

ESPN's Shams Charania wrote on X, "Just in: Giannis Antetokounmpo and his agent Alex Saratsis have started conversations with the Milwaukee Bucks about the two-time NBA MVP's future – and discussing whether his best fit is staying or elsewhere, sources tell ESPN. A resolution is expected in the coming weeks."

Then on ESPN, Charania said this a bit after 3 p.m. ET: "I'm told Giannis has been frustrated over the recent losing...and also a sense of tension around the locker room about what this means for Giannis. I had one source even tell me and describe the situation as the writing on the wall."

Did Giannis Antetokounmpo get traded?

Giannis hasn't been traded yet.

Charania's post indicates that there will be some time and discussion put into the final plan here, but it seems to be moving in the direction of a potential deal.

Teams will surely be blowing up the Milwaukee phones from this point onward to inquire about Antetokounmpo.

A lot of NBA players, due to offseason signing rules, aren't eligible to be traded until Dec. 15. So it seems unlikely a deal would happen before then.

It could take much longer, too, but that's an initial point to watch.

The Bucks play Wednesday night against the powerful Detroit Pistons. It'll be interesting to see what kind of role Giannis plays, and if he has anything to say before or after the game.
