Following the Trae Young trade, there's been no other name on the trade market hotter than two-time all-star Ja Morant.
Morant has been linked to an exit from the Memphis Grizzlies after seven seasons and four playoff appearances.
That said, due to his attitude, off-court issues and questions surrounding his commitment. Furthermore, his health has been a problem in recent seasons, suiting up in just 77 games since the 2023-24 season.
For all of these reasons, Morant's trade value seems to be lower than ever.
This gives plenty of teams an opportunity to buy-low on the Grizzlies star. According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the Sacramento Kings and Miami Heat are a few of those teams interested. Miami was said to have had internal talks on a Morant trade last week.
Additionally, the Brooklyn Nets have also been labeled as a possible suitor.
With all of this in mind, former ESPN host Rachel Nichols provided her insight to where Morant may want to end up. On the Open Floor Podcast, Nichols said: “I know [Ja Morant] wants to go down [to Miami] from what I've heard.”
All things considered, this could be Morant's best chance to join a contending team. Although the Heat are eighth in the Eastern Conference and just one game over.500, with the addition of Morant, they could find themselves in contention to compete for a top-four spot.
As the trade deadline approaches (Feb. 5), all eyes will be on Morant and possibly the Miami Heat, if they deem the trade worth making.
