Miami sets franchise record after second half scoring outburst image

The Miami Heat entered Monday night's game on a bit of a scoring surge, averaging 134 points per game over their recent two-game win-streak.

Denver posed a tough matchup however, as they entered the night 22-9, third in the Western Conference standings.

After three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic went down at the end of the first half, the Miami Heat took advantage following the break.

The Heat scored 47 points in the third quarter and followed up with a 37-point fourth to defeat Denver by 24 after both teams were tied at the half. The 84-point scoring outburst in the second half marked the highest scoring second half in franchise history.

As a result, Miami scored a season-high 147 points.

They were able to find easy baskets by getting the entire team involved. The Heat finished with eight scorers in double-figures, including three who finished with 20 or more (Norman Powell, Nikola Jovic and Jaime Jaquez Jr.)

Miami also moved the ball around incredibly well, racking up a total of 40 assists. This was just two assists shy of the 2025-26 season record, with the Memphis Grizzlies and Atlanta Hawks both totaling 42 assists against the Sacramento Kings in blow out victories.

After having lost eight of their last nine, the Heat have now won three straight.

They'll face another tough task Thursday as they travel to Detroit to take on the Pistons who currently sit atop the Eastern Conference with a 24-8 record.
