Miami Heat big man Kel’el Ware has started to come into his own in recent weeks as he finally starts to earn the trust of head coach Erik Spoelstra.
In his last seven games, Ware is averaging 15.3 points, 14.7 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game, stepping up big time for a Heat team that was without Bam Adebayo for a large portion of that stretch. Ware has scored 20 points in each of the Heat’s last two games, and secured at least 14 rebounds in each of his last four games.
Ware’s recent stretch of play has garnered the attention of head coach Erik Spoelstra, who praised the second-year center after the Heat’s 127-117 win over the Philadelphia 76ers, a game in which Ware was a +26 in 26 minutes.
“It gives us so much confidence,” Spoelstra said. “Playing with so much more force than he was a year ago at this time. He's gaining confidence. I want to be open minded to wherever it can go. I don't want to put a ceiling on him.”
Ware will look to continue his superb stretch of play as the Heat sit in fourth place in the Eastern Conference at 11-6.
