The Miami Heat are in the mix for Giannis Antetokounmpo at this season’s trade deadline. If they miss out on him, they could go after another star talent.
NBA insider Jake Fischer believes that Dallas Mavericks forward Anthony Davis could be targeted by Miami should they miss out on Antetokounmpo. Davis was traded to Dallas as part of the Luka Doncic trade with the Los Angeles Lakers last season, and has struggled to stay healthy while the Mavericks have also struggled to win games.
“Miami I don’t believe would make an all out effort for Anthony Davis right now until they know for sure Giannis isn’t for the taking, but that pairing of Bam/AD certainly worked in the Olympics. I would not rule that out as a scenario,” Fischer said.
Davis has only appeared in 20 games since landing in Dallas last season, averaging 20.0 points, 10.4 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game in that span. While he may not be the perennial All-NBA talent he once was, Davis can still be effective when he’s healthy, which would bode well for a Miami team that is missing a significant star on the roster.
