Jaren Jackson Jr. could be traded due to domino effect if Ja Morant is moved, NBA insider reveals image

The latest chatter in the NBA has been around Ja Morant, but few have talked about the potential impacts a Morant trade could have, especially on other players in the Grizzlies' organization.

The Grizzlies are evidently content with a youth movement and think highly of a lot of the young players and assets they have on their roster.

Morant and Jackson aren't 'old' by any means, but they might be old enough to both be traded away if Memphis chooses to fully commit towards a new direction.

Why could Jaren Jackson Jr. Be traded?

NBA insider Kelly Iko reported the latest update on the Grizzlies, suggesting it shouldn't be ruled out that Jackson could also be moved in the coming weeks.

In a portion of Iko's latest update, he stated, "...the organization desires a pivot to youth, sources say. In speaking with rival executives, there’s a growing thought that Jackson — while a stark contrast to Morant and despite Memphis’ insistence on him being a key part of its future — could be the next domino to fall at some point assuming a Morant trade is realized."

The first major point to acknowledge is that moving Jackson Jr. Appears to be far less of a priority for the Grizzlies than coming to a solution on Morant at the moment.

The next point to mention would be Jackson's contract. He has at least three more years left on his lucrative extentsion, with an additional player option for the 2029-30 season.

Jackson will be making on average over $50 million each season in the coming years, so it won't be easy for a team to match his contract finances if a trade were to occur.

There are a handful of other big names on the trade market already, so we could see one of those large multi-team trades like we saw this summer in the Kevin Durant trade.

It's semi-important to note that Jackson isn't eligible to be traded until Tue, Jan. 13.

Jackson is one of the premier centers/bigs in the league, and could require a much bigger return than Morant, depending on what teams would be willing to give up, so the Grizzlies should definitely listen to any offers thrown at them.
