Memphis Grizzlies star guard Ja Morant needed just three words to address the ongoing trade speculation surrounding him.
“Live with it.”
That’s what Morant plans to do, not like he has any other choice.
After what feels like years of speculation, the Grizzlies are officially entertaining trade offers for the star guard and they’re expected to prioritize draft picks and young players in a potential return package.
There are several teams interested in Morant, according to ESPN, and a deal could come to fruition before the Feb. 5 deadline.
Morant has two years and over $86 million remaining on his current contract. He will also be eligible to sign an extension over the offseason. The size of Morant's deal could prove prohibitive for some potential suitors, but some squads would still bank on the upside of the 26-year old.
At one point, Morant was considered as one of the brightest rising stars in the NBA. Things have gone sideways for him in Memphis in recent years, but perhaps a fresh start could help to jumpstart his once-promising career.
Morant has missed five consecutive games for Memphis due to a right calf contusion, and he's been ruled out of the team's upcoming contest against the Orlando Magic from Berlin, Germany.
On the season, Morant has appeared in just 18 games for the Grizzlies and posted averages of 19.0 points, 7.6 assists 3.2 rebounds and 1.0 steal per performance.
