TL;DR

  • The Los Angeles Lakers entered Tuesday's game with a 12-4 record and four straight wins.
  • Luka Doncic scored 24 points in the first quarter, breaking the Lakers' all-time record.
  • Despite Doncic's surge, the Lakers trailed by one point after the first quarter.
  • Doncic finished with 43 points, leading the Lakers to a 135-118 victory and their fifth straight win.

The Los Angeles Lakers are in great form. They entered Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers with a 12-4 record, third in the Western Conference. Not only did they recently get LeBron James back from injury, but they had also won their last four straight.

However, they weren't going to stop there.

As usual, the NBA's current leading scorer Luka Doncic came out hot, scoring 24 points in the first quarter against the Clippers. This breaks the Lakers' all-time record for points in a first quarter that was tied by Kyle Kuzma, Kobe Bryant and Doncic himself, who scored 23 in the first quarter against the Minnesota Timberwolves earlier in the season.

Despite his scoring surge, the Lakers found themselves trailing by a single point, 38-37, as the first quarter concluded.

This season, Doncic, who secured a scoring title in 2023-24 with 33.9 points per game, is currently averaging 35.2 per contest. His teammate, Austin Reaves, ranks 12th with an average of 27.9 per game.

Luka Dončić faces a considerable challenge in surpassing the Lakers' franchise scoring record, a mark set by the legendary Kobe Bryant with an impressive 81 points for the purple and gold.

Doncic finished Tuesday's game with 43 points, 13 assists and nine rebounds. He led the Lakers to a 135-118 victory, marking their fifth straight win.

Another solid night for Luka Magic.
