Mavericks plan revealed for ex-Laker Anthony Davis amid trade rumors image

TL;DR

  • Dallas Mavericks' trade of Luka Doncic to Los Angeles Lakers is seen as a poor choice.
  • Anthony Davis might be traded by Dallas by November 2025 if Klutch Sports gets involved.
  • Dallas is currently assessing its core players and front office changes before making big decisions.
  • Anthony Davis's availability issues likely impact how teams perceive him despite his talent.

It's clear the Dallas Mavericks made a poor choice by Trading Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, though the Lakers likely aren't too upset about it.

Ultimately, they chose to proceed without Anthony Davis in that trade, providing Dallas with a highly capable player, though not one on par with Doncic.

By November 2025, it's widely thought the Mavericks might part ways with their former Lakers center.

An anonymous executive told Steve Bulpett of Heavy.com that Dallas might first try to resolve issues with its existing core players before pursuing a trade, but if Klutch Sports becomes involved, Davis appears to be a likely candidate for a trade.

“If Klutch gets involved in Dallas and tries to get AD out, then some stuff could happen,” said one league executive. “But (the Mavericks) are still working it out with that group to see what direction they want to go in, and they’re so injured it’s hard to tell.

“I think they’re still trying to figure things out after the changes in the front office, but I don’t think that group as it stands now wants to make any big decisions.”

Although Davis is undoubtedly among the NBA's top centers when healthy, his persistent availability issues probably influence how various teams perceive him.
