LeBron James passes Michael Jordan in a stat that means nothing in the GOAT debate image

TL;DR

  • LeBron James has committed more career regular season fouls than Michael Jordan.
  • James surpassed Jordan and Darryl Dawkins on the all-time fouls list.
  • LeBron James is now 119th all-time in fouls committed, ahead of Jordan.
  • James has played significantly more career games than Michael Jordan.

LeBron James is moving up another all-time leaderboard.

And he just passed Michael Jordan on the way.

This isn't a statistic that will probably influence your GOAT discussions about whether LeBron or MJ holds the title of greatest of all time, however.

James has now committed more fouls than Jordan (shoutout to Reddit account OverallGeneral7129 for the information).

Entering Tuesday night, James and Jordan each had 2,783 fouls in their NBA regular season careers.

James incurred three fouls during a victory over the Clippers, surpassing not only Jordan but also Darryl Dawkins.

LeBron is now 119th all-time in fouls committed. Dawkins falls to 120th, and Jordan is 121st.

Of note: James has played 493 more career games than Jordan.

James trails only five active players on the all-time fouls list: Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, Kyle Lowry, Brook Lopez, and James Harden.

The top of the all-time fouls list is heavily skewed toward big men.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar holds the all-time record with 4,657 fouls. Karl Malone, Artis Gilmore, Robert Parish, and Caldwell Jones are also among the top five.

That's a record LeBron won't find his way to first in, but he's now ahead of Jordan.
