LeBron James injury reveals perfect replacement for him in starting lineup image

Lebron James is expected to miss his first-ever season opener this year due to the sciatica nerve issue he is dealing with on the right side of his body.

He is scheduled to miss the next month or so due to this injury, and he will reportedly monitor the team's situation as he recovers.

This will leave a gaping hole in the Lakers’ starting five, as James's abilities on the court are impossible to replicate.

However, Lake Show Life’s Quinn Everts predicts another 6-foot-8 forward will be serviceable for the Lakers as James recovers.

“I think Redick will start with size — Vanderbilt and Hachimura are both 6-foot-8, and it will be key to have that size on the wings to offset defensive deficiencies the backcourt provides,” Everts said Tuesday.

“He's (Vanderbilt) not merely a good defender; when healthy, Vanderbilt is one of the most disruptive defenders in basketball.

Assuming the rest of the lineup would be Rui Hachimura, Luka Dončić, Deandre Ayton, and Austin Reaves, it leaves a spot open for Jarred Vanderbilt.

Vanderbilt has struggled with injuries his entire career, but he seems to be ready to go for the opening of next season.

Although the Lakers have many options for that fifth spot, Vanderbilt provides them with some much-needed defense.

Vanderbilt has all the tools to make an All-Defensive team, with a 7-foot-1 wingspan and the biggest organization’s fans to support him.

With the Lakers' improved roster, they may experiment with some starting lineups while James is out, but Vanderbilt should prove to be their best option.
