LeBron James' 10-point streak ends in the most LeBron James way possible image

Until the end, this is who LeBron James was, is and always will be.

With a chance at extending one of the craziest streaks in NBA history, needing only the floater in the lane that was right in front of him, the King passed.

And it turned out to be the correct, brilliant play. He found a wide-open Rui Hachimura in the left corner. Hachimura drilled the 3-pointer at the buzzer. And the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Toronto Raptors, 123-120.

The headline ended up being this, though: LeBron, after 1,297 games in a row of at least 10 points, scored 8.

LeBron was asked afterward if there were any negative feelings about the end of the streak.

"Nope, we won," he replied.

That, always, is who James is.

He's 40. He's done everything an NBA player can do. He's scored more points than anyone in league history.

And still, he makes the extra pass. He empowers his teammates. He trusts those around him.

The photo at the top of this story is of James after the final buzzer. Does he look like a guy who cares that he only scored 8 points?

Of course not. James has never cared about that.

Early in his career, he was criticized in crunch time for making the right pass, the extra pass. "Kobe wouldn't do that. Michael wouldn't do that." That's probably true.

But this is LeBron James. And this was, is and always will be LeBron, and only LeBron.
